General Transfers to Thirty Three Schools Frozen

Each year, the 果冻传媒app Independent School District reviews each school鈥檚 capacity to determine which schools should be frozen to transfers. Transfers are frozen for schools that have, or are expected to have, enrollments that exceed their capacities. Also, some schools are frozen to maintain stability in tracking patterns. Based on expected enrollments and school tracking patterns for the 2012-13 school year, 33 schools will be frozen to general transfers and an additional 22 schools will be monitored for available space, after priority transfers are approved.

The campuses that will be frozen to general transfers are: Akins, Anderson, 果冻传媒app, Bowie and McCallum high schools; Kealing, Murchison and O. Henry middle schools; and Andrews, Baldwin, Baranoff, Barrington, Blazier, Bryker Woods (except for kindergarten, fifth and sixth grades), Casis, Cook, Doss, Graham, Harris, Hart, Hill, Kiker, Langford, Lee, Odom, Patton, Perez, Pickle, Pillow, Ridgetop, Rodriguez, Walnut Creek and Wooldridge elementary schools.

The 22 campuses that will be monitored are  are: Bedichek and Gorzycki middle schools; Brentwood, Casey, Clayton, Cowan, Davis, Govalle, Gullett, Highland Park, Houston, Kocurek, Linder, Mathews, McBee, Menchaca, Metz, Mills, Oak Hill, Ortega, Summitt and Zilker  elementary schools.

The administration will continue to monitor space needs in all schools as boundary changes and/or reassignments are approved by the Board of Trustees during the spring.  The district will inform the Board and community about any effects on the school freeze recommendations as a result of any change to space use.

The district will begin accepting requests for school transfers for the 2012-2013 school year beginning on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Requests may be submitted to the Office of Student Services (Room A200) in the Carruth Administration Center, located at 1111 West Sixth Street during regular business hours, 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Applications for priority transfers and non-priority transfers that are to be considered in the first round lottery process will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31.
