Last week, the LBJ/LASA orchestra traveled to New York City to compete against eight other schools from across the country in the National Band and Orchestra Festival at Carnegie Hall.
A panel of judges selected the LBJ/LASA orchestra as the best of the bunch, inviting them to perform in an evening concert at the famous venue before an audience of more than 2,000.
"Everyone erupted with screams and cheers of excitement when it was announced that we had won," Orchestra Director Andrew Potter said. "It was an amazing experience. I couldn't be more proud of the orchestra. Their hard work really paid off."
This is not the last opportunity for the student musicians to shine this year; the orchestra will compete in the UIL state competition on April 11.
