Students in the Bowie High School Color Guard recently took home first and second place state medals following a performance in the 2013 Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships.
The championships, held April 6-7, are the most prestigious statewide competition for school color guards.
“I am extremely proud of both teams for their extraordinary performances,” said Stephen Howard, associate director of bands and color guard director at Bowie. “They made the Bowie community proud.”
Along with Howard, co-director of the colorguard Joey Powell also helped lead the students to victory.
Bowie’s junior varsity color guard placed second and is the 2013 TCGC Scholastic JV Silver Medalists. The varsity team placed first, earning them the title of 2013 TCGC Scholastic National A State Champions.
