Perez Elementary School will be Open Monday

Perez Elementary School will be open tomorrow, Monday, Nov. 4. AISD has been working with City of 果冻传媒app officials, including 果冻传媒app Energy and the 果冻传媒app Police Department, to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff members and families affected by last week鈥檚 storms and flooding in Southeast 果冻传媒app.

Principal David Kauffman provided Perez families with an update earlier today through telephone and e-mail notifications in English and Spanish.

鈥淲e encourage you to send your children to school if possible, but absences and tardies due to the flooding will be excused,鈥 Principal Kauffman said. 鈥淲e look forward to seeing our Perez Pythons return safely Monday.鈥

Of AISD鈥檚 128 campuses, Perez suffered the most serious effects following the torrential rainstorms Thursday. Classes at Perez were canceled and students and staff members were evacuated to Widen Elementary School in the morning due to flooding. The school remained closed Friday due to road conditions in the neighborhood and leading up to the school.

Although traffic may be congested in some areas Monday morning, the 果冻传媒app Police Department has informed the district that all roads around the school and in the neighborhood will be open. The district thanks families for their patience and cooperation with the police officers and staff members who will be directing traffic.

AISD school bus No. 2009 will operate at its usual pick-up and drop-off locations and will also stop at the Dove Springs Recreation Center. If you have been displaced by the flooding and need bus transportation, please call the school at 512-841-9100 during the school day to request assistance.

Families who need assistance due to the flooding may call 3-1-1 or the AISD Family Resource Center at Mendez Middle School from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 512-841-1016.

Parents of Perez students, may call the school for more information at 512-841-9100.
