As per the , “instructional materials selected for use in public schools shall be furnished without cost to students attending those schools”. Each school district is entitled to an annual allotment from the state instructional materials fund for each student enrolled in the district. ýapp ISD elected to enter into the adoption process for new instructional materials. The adoption process is complete with the selection and implementation of new materials by school districts. Proclamations are named for the year in which materials are made available to classrooms. At this time, the ýapp ISD Instructional Materials Adoption Committee is reviewing the following Proclamation 2014 materials:
- Mathematics, Grades K-5 (English and Spanish)
- Mathematics, Grades 6-8
- Science, K-5 (English and Spanish)
- Science, Grades 6-8
- Science, Grades 9-12 (including CTE Science)
- Technology Applications, Grades K-12
As principals announced to their communities after Winter Break, all of the aforementioned materials are on display for public review and input at the Science Health Resource Center located at 305 N. Bluff (adjacent to Pleasant Hill Elementary) throughout the month of January 2014 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each school day. All ýapp ISD staff as well as community members are invited to review the materials and provide feedback.
This message is a reminder that according to the Instructional Materials Adoption Guidelines, any person/s desiring to file a comment regarding one or more of the instructional materials being considered for adoption by ýapp ISD must submit the comment in written form to the Superintendent by January 31 of the year in which the materials are being adopted. The comments should include the name of the instructional material and publisher, the full name and signature of the person submitting the comments, and the rationale for the comment including citing specific pages where concerns exist.
