Update since original post: The information in this announcement has been updated since it was posted at 5:30 p.m. AISD is scheduled to operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday, Jan. 28. For the most recent information, please review the new .
Based on information from the National 果冻传媒app Service (NWS) and a local meteorologist, rain, coupled with freezing temperatures, is possible late this evening and into the early morning.
果冻传媒app ISD is closely monitoring the weather and the latest information available to us.
The district recognizes, however, that the true impact of the inclement weather likely will not be known until the early morning, and we have been advised by NWS and one of 果冻传媒app鈥檚 local meteorologist that inadequate information exists at this time for us to make a reliable decision regarding tomorrow鈥檚 school start time. If the weather appears to impact regular district operations and classes, AISD will provide updates to you via our phone and email notification system as soon as possible Tuesday morning at approximately 6 a.m. The district will also update the news media and provide updates through AISD鈥檚 website and social media channels: 果冻传媒app ISD on Twitter and Facebook.
AISD knows that some families do not wish to receive automated phone calls from us notifying them of changes to school schedules due to the weather. If you would like to opt out of receiving phone calls and receive a text message or e-mail instead with notifications on school cancelations or late starts, as well as other district news, please visit AISD鈥檚 SchoolMessenger page:
AISD will not send notifications if the weather does not impact our schools.
As a reminder, the weather may cause delays to bus pick-up and drop-off times. If your child rides the bus and you would like to learn how specific bus routes may be affected, please call AISD鈥檚 transportation department between 7:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. at 512-414-0238.
The safety of the AISD community remains the district's top priority. AISD will continue to excuse tardies for students and staff members due to inclement weather.
