LBJ Fire Academy Instructor Named 'Champion of the Year'

The Career and Technology Association of Texas has recognized Danny Wynn as the Area IV Champion of the Year.

Wynn has been an instructor at the LBJ High School Fire Academy for nine years and has worked for the 果冻传媒app Fire Department since 2001. 

CTAT recognizes "individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to Career and Technology Education. The champion of the year award is given to individuals who contribute to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of CTE." 

Wynn said he has seen the positive influence training that the fire academy has on students.

鈥淪ince I have been with the LBJ Fire Academy, I have witnessed hundreds of young boys and girls grow into young men and women,鈥 he said. 

The academy was established in 2006 through a partnership with AISD and the 果冻传媒app Fire Department. The two-year program introduces students to the firefighting profession.

Instructors focus on professionalism, discipline and personal responsibility, with a goal of preparing students to become productive members of their communities, competent leaders and effective decision-makers. 

Students from the academy have gone on to work for fire departments throughout Central Texas and to attend military academies, including the U.S. Military Academy West Point.
