Ann Richards School for Young Women won its first state championship in a UIL competition.
Ann Richards student Brooke Brogan won the UIL State Champion in division 2 for her short film, “The Garden,” in the traditional animation category.
Brogan hand-drew the characters in the film, scanned each frame and then cleaned and painted the art work in Photoshop. Backgrounds and animation were added in Adobe After Effects, with the final film compiled with music and sound in Adobe Premier.
Two other Ann Richards students assisted with the film. Lina Breining wrote and performed an original score for the film and Chloe Levy helped with the animation by inking many of the hand-drawn frames.
The UIL film state finals were held March 1 at the Paramount Theater.
