果冻传媒app ISD Students Get Active at Andy Roddick Foundation Summer Learning Program

More than 1,500 果冻传媒app ISD students from Harris and Pecan Springs elementary schools are getting active this summer during the Andy Roddick Foundation Summer Learning Program.

The six-week program invites students from the most underserved communities to participate in academic and physical activities for free during the summer.

Harris Principal Monica Martinez said the program is an engaging way to keep students excited about learning over the summer.

鈥淭he program gives our kids a safe place to be during the day while their parents at work while also keeping up with their academics,鈥 Martinez said. 鈥淭he kids are reading, writing and getting the opportunity to go out in the community to six different field trips to learn new things.鈥

The program, a partnership between the Andy Roddick Foundation and the city of 果冻传媒app Parks and Recreation Department, is in its fourth year serving students.

Participating students receive a healthy breakfast, lunch and snack and also keep track of their activity on a pedometer each day.

According to the Andy Roddick Foundation, the goals of the summer learning program are to reduce learning loss and weight gain and build resilient students, while providing them with a fun and memorable summer experience.
