On June 4, South 果冻传媒app community members gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the soon to be Blazier Relief Campus.
The New Blazier Relief Campus is one of the first schools to be designed and built in the 2017 Bond Program. This school is intended to provide immediate overcrowding relief for Blazier Elementary School by constructing a facility to accommodate grades 4 through 6. This project will be Phase 1 of a strategic plan to transform the entire site into a village containing Pre-K through eighth grade facilities while providing relief to Blazier Elementary School throughout the transition.
The groundbreaking marks 14 months of construction to modernize the school into a 21st-century learning space, characterized by the smart use of space, integration of technology, collaborative workstations, outdoor learning spaces and student mobility in the classroom.
The morning ceremony featured a joyful parade from Blazier Elementary to the construction site of the soon to be Blazier Relief Campus. The parade was led by a stellar performance of the Akins High School band and Akins Cheer squad. The event also included remarks by Blazier Principal Leti Pe帽a, 果冻传媒app ISD Board President Geronimo Rodriguez, Texas State Representative Eddie Rodriguez, and 果冻传媒app ISD Superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz.
In attendance were special guest and school's namesake, John C Blazier. Mr. Blazier has been a passionate leader in the 果冻传媒app community for systematic change in public education.
The ceremony concluded with the actual groundbreaking itself. Students and staff rolled up their sleeves, picked up a shovel and flipped the dirt, marking a new beginning for both the school and the community.
Thank you to everyone who joined this special community gathering, and for your continued support as AISD creates 21st-century learning spaces for all students!
