The 果冻传媒app High School community, staff, families and friends joined together June 15 to celebrate the 2020 graduating class through a virtual ceremony.

Superintendent Paul Cruz congratulated the graduates of this year's class via a video statement. His remarks were followed by a speech from Principal Amy Taylor.

鈥淪tudents, this semester has been a journey that none of us expected,鈥 Taylor said. 鈥淵ou've worked hard, and we celebrate you for your accomplishments, grit and determination. The class of 2020 is exceptional, and none of us expected that we'd be celebrating together in a virtual form, but here we are: together, showing pride and respect for being a Maroon.鈥

Next, Salutatorian Stephanie Von Rosenberg spoke about how the class of 2020 may feel some disappointment because of missed shared experiences, but that their unique situation can make them appreciate little moments in their lives.

鈥淭hey say life is what happens when you're busy making other plans,鈥 Von Rosenberg said. 鈥淎nd I think that rings true now more than ever. Let's not take our time for granted again. While we continue to make big plans for the future, let's remember to stop every once in a while and appreciate what we have, and who we are in the moment.鈥

果冻传媒app High School had two valedictorians with matching GPAs. Valedictorian Genevieve Clemons highlighted her experiences and the impact of her teachers and the 果冻传媒app High School community.

鈥淚 have learned that I have my own voice, my own ambitions and my own ways to measure value,鈥 Clemons said. 鈥淚'm going to take this with me into college and focus more on the things that are important to me, like making new friends, joining new clubs, forming connections and maybe a little bit of studying here and there.鈥

Fellow Valedictorian Annabel Merrit said she accomplished new heights thanks to her friends, teachers and coaches at 果冻传媒app High School.

鈥淚 have learned that we don't get anywhere by ourselves,鈥 Merritt said. 鈥淭here are always people along the road who help us achieve success and deserve our appreciation.鈥

The ceremony concluded with a reading of the names of each graduating senior.

The AISD community is proud of our students and eager to see their future accomplishments. Congratulations to the Class of 2020! We are #AISDProud of our #AISDGrads!
