New school attendance awareness t-shirts, designed by three 果冻传媒app students, will remind other students beginning next Fall that "every day counts" in their education.
"We received so many wonderful t-shirt designs from our campuses. Thank you to the art teachers who encouraged their students to submit designs. We appreciate their support for improving attendance," Director of Fine Arts Greg Goodman said.
Students with the winning t-shirt designs are:
- Sebastian Rivera, a tenth grader from Akins High School, who was sponsored by teacher Vivian Holland;
- Christian Newton, an eighth grader from Paredes Middle School who was sponsored by teacher Jean McCray; and
- Emerald Arteaga-Hernandez, a third grader from Allison Elementary, who was sponsored by teacher Lanie McCormick.

One award is being given for each age category: Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. The First Place Winners will receive a t-shirt, recognition at a Board meeting, and will have their picture placed on the AISD website. All of the winners will have their t-shirt design featured on the AISD website, AISD-TV Channel 22, and AISD You Tube. Second and third place winners will receive a t-shirt!
AISD continues to work with students, families, and the community to ensure regular school attendance and improve academic achievement. The t-shirt contest is one element of the "Every Day Counts" campaign to improve student attendance by engaging students. Another popular feature of the campaign is AISD's "Attend-O-Meter," which allows parents, students, and others to view current and historical attendance data on a campus-by-campus basis.
