Garza High Women’s Studies Class Performs “We Are the Fourth Wave of Feminism”

ąű¶ł´«Ă˝app, TX—High school juniors at Garza High School will perform “We Are the Fourth Wave of Feminism,” an original piece written by the students to share what they have learned from their women’s studies class.

When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27

Where: Dougherty Arts Center, 1110 Barton Springs Road

Background: From monologues of women authors about their own “I Have a Dream” speeches, the high school students will participate in a 45-minute performance for friends and family, followed by a short question-and-answer session. Laura Grayson, Garza High School history and women’s studies teacher, and Julia Champine, language arts department chair, co-directed and produced the performance.

Students can earn a credit for U.S. history, English III and theater arts for the course.

Eastside Café, P. Terry’s Burgers, Jennifer Westerman and Eastside Pies contributed by providing food during rehearsals. The performance, which is in its third year, is free and open to the public.
