AISD Statement on ACLU Complaint

AUSTIN, Texas鈥擳he 果冻传媒app Independent School District released the following statement regarding the American Civil Liberties Union鈥檚 complaint against the district:

On Wednesday, just after 8 p.m., the district received a copy of the ACLU鈥檚 complaint, involving the Bertha Sadler Means Young Women鈥檚 Leadership Academy and the Gus Garcia Young Men鈥檚 Leadership Academy.

The district鈥檚 legal counsel have been reviewing the allegations in the complaint, and, to date, have not discovered any arguments that the ACLU did not raise in the fall of 2013. At that time, the district鈥檚 conversations with the ACLU were constructive and gave AISD the opportunity to further strengthen the programs to ensure legal compliance.

The two schools opened with the start of the new school year, and the district is focused on serving our students to give them the best education possible. They are off to a great start. As planned, the district will monitor the progress of the success of the students at the schools throughout the year.

The district is ready to work with the Office for Civil Rights in response to the allegations the ACLU has made. The district remains committed to meeting the needs of our students at the two schools.
