MEDIA ADVISORY Alumna of Blackshear Elementary School City Councilmember Ora Houston to Return for Role Model Day

Professionals from the 果冻传媒app area will present their careers to Blackshear Elementary Fine Arts Academy students during the school鈥檚 annual Role Model Day.

, , and are among the professionals attending.

What: The school鈥檚 second- through fifth-graders will hear professionals discuss their jobs and reinforce the message to stay in school, set goals and work hard to achieve them.

Banking, legal, medical, law enforcement, print/broadcast media; and city and county governmental departments are among professions represented. 果冻传媒app Police Department鈥檚 mounted patrol, K-9 Unit, a police car and helicopter will be on hand, as well as the 果冻传媒app Fire Department鈥檚 fire truck and ambulance. All are subject to leave at a moment鈥檚 notice, if necessary.

When: 9鈥11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28

Where: Blackshear Fine Arts Academy, 1712 E. 11th St., gymnasium

Background: For 16 years, community volunteer Margarine Beaman, with the 鈥淚 Can鈥 Project, has organized Role Model Day at Blackshear to share career options with students. The students will spend approximately 10 minutes with each role model, hearing about their job and asking questions. There will be more than 35 tables in the gymnasium and students rotate through as many tables as they can during the time allotted.
