Media Advisory: Metz Elementary School Walks Toward Path of Tolerance, Peace and Diversity

Community and families to join Walk Against Hate

This week, Metz Elementary School students, parents, faculty and staff are joining together in a Walk Against Hate.

What: Participants will walk around the school and convene at the front of Metz for a short presentation. Walkers will wear a Metz shirt or white T-shirt to show support of diversity, peace, tolerance, love and acceptance.

When: 8:15 a.m. Friday, March 13

Where: Metz Elementary School, 84 Robert Martinez Jr. St.

Background: The walk is a part of AISD鈥檚 No Place for Hate Initiative. Launched by the Anti-Defamation League in 2001, No Place for Hate is a national initiative that provides educators and students with resources to ensure that anti-bias and diversity education are an integral part of the school curriculum. It helps to create and sustain inclusive school environments where all students feel valued. Also, students have the opportunity to succeed by promoting respect for individual difference while challenging bigotry and prejudice.
