David Edgar Joins AISD as New Executive Director of Finance

果冻传媒app ISD's Board of Trustees approved the appointment of David Edgar as the new executive director of finance Sept. 26.

As the executive director of finance for AISD, Edgar directs the district鈥檚 operations for areas that include budget services, treasury, accounting and payroll, risk management, state and federal grants, and Medicaid and student billing.

He also oversees systems and procedures to ensure practical management and internal control systems.

"We are pleased to welcome David Edgar to the AISD team to help manage our financial resources鈥攖o plan for today and for the future," said Chief Financial Officer Nicole Conley. "He brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the district, as well as a commitment to transparency and community engagement.鈥

AISD has earned the AAA debt rating from Moody鈥檚 Investors Service, AA+ from Standard & Poor鈥檚, and AA+ from Fitch Ratings. This has resulted in millions of dollars of savings due to lower interest rates for the district鈥檚 bond program and 果冻传媒app taxpayers.

"AISD is a complex business organization, that has earned the highest financial ratings a school district can receive from national rating agencies. To maintain this performance, we need to make strategic budget decisions and investments. We must use every one of our limited dollars in a way that will produce the most positive outcomes for our students," Conley said.

Prior to joining AISD in October, Edgar served as assistant superintendent of business services at Eanes ISD, where he prepared and oversaw a $180 million budget comprising local, state and federal funding sources.

Edgar also ensured the district鈥檚 bond-funded projects were completed in accordance with the Bond Oversight Committee鈥檚 requirements and complied with relevant laws and regulations.

In addition to leading business operations at 果冻传媒app and Eanes ISDs, Edgar served as business manager at Halsville ISD, assistant superintendent of finance at Vidor ISD, senior manager at Edgar, Kiker & Cross CPAs and as a supervisor at Melton & Melton CPAs.

Edgar earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in accounting from Lamar University. He is a member of the Texas Association of School Business Officials, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
