Future educators from three ¹û¶³´«Ã½app ISD high schools are headed to state competition.
Students in the Akins High School and Lanier and Travis early college high schools will compete in the 34th Annual Teach Tomorrow Summit and State Competition.
The competition is Feb. 15–17 at the La Torretta Resort and Conference Center and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
The students are all members of their schools' chapters of Texas Association of Future Educators, a statewide co-curricular career and technical student organization that allows students to explore the teaching profession. The conference gives students the opportunity to meet others from around the state with the same interests, gain an understanding of what it takes to be a successful college student and learn the skills necessary to become a successful educator.
While at the conference, students will participate in 35 competitive events, 19 of which advance to nationals. The competitive events are designed to offer future educators opportunities to measure their creativity, skills and initiative against their peers from across the state. Students who place in the top five in each of the national events will advance to the Educators Rising National Conference, June 21–24 in Orlando.
