果冻传媒app ISD Superintendent Paul Cruz and members of the Board of Trustees will join Travis Early College High School culinary students in the campus' annual Tamalada event, which aims to share the Latino culture of making tamales each holiday season.
Students will be in the midst of preparing and assembling a variety of tamales to share with the community. Cruz and trustees will work hands-on with students during the Tamalada.
When: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12
Where: Travis ECHS culinary dining room, 1211 East Oltorf St.
Background: Tamaladas, or tamale-making parties, have been a tradition in many Latino families for generations. Multiple families and generations gather at Christmastime to cook, assemble, and eat the dish. In a tamalada, everyone from children to grandparents, have specific jobs. From cooking fillings to kneading masa and preparing wrappers, all members of the community play a part.
