This summer, 果冻传媒app ISD will provide free, healthy meals to all children 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition program administered in the Lone Star State by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). For the children who rely on school meals during the academic year, these meals offer a source of good nutrition when school is out for the long summer vacation.
Children in the community enjoy free summer meals regardless of household income and without any registration or identification. To receive a free, healthy meal, children may simply visit the cafeteria at any participating site during designated service times. Children do not have to be enrolled in 果冻传媒app ISD to receive free summer meals.
鈥湽炒絘pp children need good nutrition year-round so they can learn, grow and succeed in life,鈥 said Linley Danner, Interim Executive Director of Food Service and Warehouse Operations. 鈥淲ith nearly 2 million food-insecure children living in Texas, these healthy meals are vital to nourishing young Texans during the summer vacation.鈥
果冻传媒app ISD is one of many nonprofit organizations partnering with TDA to serve meals across Texas. Beginning June 1, families may use the following tools to find a meal site anywhere in the state:
- Call 2-1-1 to speak to a live operator.
- Visit www.SummerFood.org for an interactive site locator map.
- Text FOOD or COMIDA to 304-304.
- Families may also find district meals sites on the 果冻传媒app ISD website.
Organizations partner with TDA to serve meals in areas where more than 50 percent of children are eligible for free or reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program. All meal sites must be sponsored by an organization that has a contract with TDA.
果冻传媒app ISD will not serve meals while district offices and campuses are closed July 4-8.
